US Real Estate Good For Investment

Worldwide investors are seeing real estate in the US as a good investment. Article by sbwire.com
A growing number of European investors could be turning to US real estate as an alternative investment this year, according to AAA.

The assertion comes in response to a report in the US about the popularity of US real estate among European investors who are growing less and less trusting of European assets. AAA, an alternative investment advocacy group, said that it is easy to see why US real estate could be more attractive than European real estate at the moment, in light of the ongoing Eurozone crisis.

American Dream Still a Reality

Most Americans still believe they can achieve the American dream, but in this article by Michael F Ford from columbiatribune.com what American dream means may be different than you think.
Few ideas are as central to American self-identity as the “American dream.” Politicians invoke it, immigrants pursue it and, despite unremittingly negative economic news, citizens embrace it. But what is the American dream? We began regular study of how people define and perceive the dream three years ago and have discovered many misunderstandings worth a second look.

Selling "Gifted" Real Estate

We at BuyWisconsinLand.com think land is a fantastic Christmas gift.  Check out our website for great wooded hunting acreages and recreational properties.

However, if you already have a property that was a gift, that is property given to you from someone living (not left to you in a will) and you want to sell that land, there are tax consideration you need to be aware of. This article from by William Perez from About.com should give you some insight.
People often end up owning real estate and other property when the original owner has given that property to them. Transfers of property given before the original owner dies is called a gift. Recipients of gift property have different tax consequences than recipients of inherited property.

A 1850 Thanksgiving Story

Remembering to help those in need.  From the Wisconsin Historical Society, published by the Wisconsin State Journal
"It was Thanksgiving morning in 1850," James Pond recalled. His family lived in a one-room log cabin in rural Fond du Lac County, but their harvest had been so poor that his father had left several days earlier to earn money for food.

Back home, his family starved. "We had eaten the last of our frozen turnips," Pond wrote, "(and) the cows had dried up for lack of proper feed. ..." He went outdoors that morning "because I could not bear to listen to poor mother's prayer for relief that seemed impossible to expect."

Owning Hunting Land

Buying a piece of land to hunt on is one thing, buying a hunting property is quite another.

In this article by by Rich Baugh of Whitetail Properties on realtree.com, the author explains not only the financial aspects of buying land, but maintainance of the land itself to make a haven for wildlife and bring you success hunting.

Most hunters dream of owning their own property. I was able to realize that dream around 10 years ago when two close friends and I purchased a farm in Adams County, Illinois. My justification for buying that farm was to have a place to hunt and avoid the costs associated with leasing land or paying an outfitter. This was a valid reason, but in hindsight, I now realize there were many more benefits. I never imagined how exciting it would be to hunt my own property or how rewarding the overall land ownership/management experience would be. It was the best investment I’ve ever made.

Since that original purchase, I’ve bought more farms and have learned many lessons in the process. As a land specialist with Whitetail Properties, I’ve also helped dozens of buyers realize the dream of land ownership. Through my personal land purchases and my job as a land specialist agent, I’ve learned some things that can simplify the buying process. Purchasing a property is a major undertaking. It’s critical that you take the necessary time to ensure you’re making the right decisions along the way.
