Auld Lang Syne

Everybody knows the song, right?

Did you know Robert Burns wrote four verses? Maybe this year you can sing them all. Or maybe not.

Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

American Christmas

Did you know that after the American Revolution, most English customs fell out of favor in the new United States, including Christmas! Congress was even in session on December 25, 1789. Christmas didn't become a federal holiday until June 26, 1870.

"Timing the Market"

Here's a phrase that gets thrown around a lot in investment circles: 'Timing the Market'. Even in real estate, property investment can include the right timing. But unlike the stock market, which moves rather quickly at times, real estate tends to move a slower pace, and growth can usually take years. Unless you are a 'house flipper', real estate can serve as a good long term investment, if you are willing to wait for results.

Check out this article by Greg Rand from Entrepreneur.com. It explains about the ups and downs of the real estate market Understanding the Real Estate Cycle - Entrepreneur.com
