If you own real estate and are wondering what is the best way to pass it along to your children or keep it in the family, this article is for you.
From About.com's William Perez's blog "William's Tax Planning Blog" Mr Perez takes a question regarding the transfer of a condominium in Florida between a father and daughter. He reviews the tax aspects and gives options on how one can transfer property and save on taxes. Although this article is specific to one property, the points it makes and options it gives are ones that we can all review and make the best choice when passing real estate along to family.

Auld Lang Syne
Everybody knows the song, right?
Did you know Robert Burns wrote four verses? Maybe this year you can sing them all. Or maybe not.
Have a very Happy New Year from BuyWisconsinLand.com
Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !

"Timing the Market"
Here's a phrase that gets thrown around a lot in investment circles: 'Timing the Market'. Even in real estate, property investment can include the right timing. But unlike the stock market, which moves rather quickly at times, real estate tends to move a slower pace, and growth can usually take years. Unless you are a 'house flipper', real estate can serve as a good long term investment, if you are willing to wait for results.

Officially Thanksgiving
A portion of the Proclamation Establishing Thanksgiving Day October 3, 1863 from allabouthistory.org
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union. From the team here at BuyWisconsinLand.com we wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the city of Washington, this third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the independence of the United States the eighty-eighth.
